B.Ed Programme Overview
The Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) programme is a
two-year professional teacher education course designed
as per the norms of the National Council for Teacher
Education (NCTE) and the academic framework of Tamil
Nadu Teachers Education University (TNTEU).
The programme aims to bridge the gap between educational
theory and classroom practice by equipping student
teachers with pedagogical skills, subject expertise, and
ethical responsibility.
Course Objectives
To develop effective classroom teachers with sound subject knowledge and pedagogical competence
To enhance professional skills such as lesson planning, assessment, classroom management, and educational technology
To instill values, ethics, and social responsibility among future teachers
To prepare student teachers for diverse learning environments and inclusive education
Course Duration & Working Days
Duration: Two Academic Years
Working Days: 200 working days per academic year
Working Hours: 36 hours per week (5 or 6 working days)
Excluding admission and examination periods, as prescribed by TNTEU
Curriculum Framework

TNTEU Regulations & Academic Process
All academic activities—including syllabus implementation, internal assessments, semester examinations, evaluation, and certification—are conducted strictly in accordance with TNTEU regulations. Continuous internal assessment, practical examinations, and university examinations form an integral part of the academic process.
